Google opens Connected Apps Platform preview: build once with MCP, reach Search and Gemini
rmstein · x · 2026-10-30
Google launched the public preview of its Connected Apps Platform, letting developers build a single integration that works across Google Search and the Gemini app — so users can access third-party account context and complete real-world actions inside conversations.
- Built on the MCP (Model Context Protocol) open standard: deploy a remote MCP server to expose tools and authorized data, with MCP Apps for rich interactive UIs
- OAuth 2.1 guide provided for securely authorizing the Gemini app; users link an app once
- Positioned as an "enable once and run Google-wide" ecosystem, replacing bespoke per-product integrations
- Upcoming Search integrations include Adobe (design help), Calm (meditation), and Peloton (fitness)
Developers can apply for the preview now.
