Four natural loci in the prompt let Evo 2 generate full Cas9 systems at 10× less compute

Proteins: prompted with the 14-example lanmodulin family (rare-earth binders), up to 15% of generations pass HMM, novelty and diversity filters, with more sampling yielding progressively novel designs; the same holds for rubisco and diverse anti-CRISPRs.
Protein-RNA systems: neither Evo 1 nor Evo 2 could generate Cas9 from partial loci, and EvoCas9 required fine-tuning on tens of thousands of loci. With just four natural loci in the prompt, Evo 2 generates complete loci with a CRISPR array, tracrRNA and Cas9. Per-sample pass rate is lower than fine-tuning, but a library costs 10× less compute with more diverse designs.
