Google launches Connected Apps Platform preview: build once with MCP, reach Gemini and Search
AiJohnAllen · x · 2026-10-29
Google launched the preview of its Connected Apps Platform. Developers can build once via a cloud-hosted MCP server or Android AppFunctions and submit through the Google Connected Console, so their apps appear inside Search and/or Gemini. Users link the app once, then take actions or pull live data without leaving Google. The platform standardizes integrations around the MCP open protocol with OAuth 2.1 for authorization, plus MCP Apps for rich interactive UIs. Over 50 apps already exist, with more (including Calm) rolling out; US developer signup is open.
