Lightpanda, a Zig-built browser for AI agents, uses 16× less memory than headless Chrome
techNmak · x · 2026-10-29
Lightpanda, an open-source browser written from scratch in Zig (not forked from Chromium), has passed 37K GitHub stars. Built specifically for AI agents, web scraping, and automation, it skips the graphical rendering engine and DOM/layout machinery agents don't need, implementing only page navigation, element inspection, JS execution (via V8), clicking, form-filling, and data extraction. The team's benchmark shows 16× less memory usage than headless Chrome.
