Exploring the shape of AI-generated upstream PRs maintainers will accept
lucasmeijer · x · 2026-10-29
lucasmeijer is experimenting with what shape an AI-generated upstream PR should take so maintainers actually appreciate it. His PR to pierrecomputer/pierre is framed as a bug report containing: a human-written problem description, a minimal repro case, before/after screen recordings (made by his agent) with subtitles explaining what's happening, plus the AI-generated patch and description — clearly separated into "me talking" vs "AI generated". He's considering adding TTS narration to the videos and asks whether this shape is genuinely useful to maintainers.
