Pro Codex tip: use a skill to babysit PRs and auto-merge them every 15 minutes
simpsoka · x · 2026-10-29
A practical Pro Codex workflow from btraut for delegating PR cleanup to AI:
- Install a "PR babysitter" skill that addresses review feedback, resolves merge conflicts, and navigates CI failures — only pinging you when truly needed. A good reference exists in the openai/codex repo.
- Create a "🚢 Outbound" custom section in the ChatGPT app and drag finished threads into it.
- Spin up a "🤖 PR Shepherd" Codex thread that runs every 15 minutes, applies the babysitter skill to every thread in Outbound until the PR is green, then merges and archives it.
The author's flow: make a change in a thread, request team review, drop it into Outbound, and walk away.
