GET requests can carry body payloads — an overlooked AI agent tool-use exploit
bigorangemachine · reddit · 2026-10-29
An experimenter running local Qwen models with detailed tool-call traces in MLFlow noticed models occasionally fetching things like YouTube transcripts unprompted — and realized an underappreciated attack surface: the HTTP standard allows GET requests to carry body payloads like POST.
Combined with poisoned or manipulated models, an agent's fetch tool could potentially be steered into crafting GET requests with malicious bodies, a vector he flags as a "huge exploit waiting to happen."
Practical takeaway: audit the body payloads of fetch-style tool calls in your agent logs.
