Microsoft open-sources its Copilot agent harness in Foundry Agent Service
marlene_zw · x · 2026-10-29
Microsoft announced the Microsoft Copilot harness in Foundry Agent Service, a truly multi-model execution layer built by the GitHub engineering team and already deployed across Microsoft products.
- Developers can build agents without rebuilding the execution layer: the harness handles orchestration, tools, context, and controls.
- Teams can focus purely on their agent's skills and outcomes.
- A demo by Jeff Hollan shows the harness in action.
Essentially, Microsoft is opening up its internally proven agent runtime infrastructure for third-party reuse.
