Vincent Sitzmann open-sourced texwerk (MIT license), his own Overleaf alternative: a self-hosted collaborative LaTeX editor for trusted networks and tailnets, sibling to his DeckWerk slide editor.
Features:
- Open the server address, pick a project, write: file tree on the left, editor in the middle, compiled PDF on the right
- Everyone sees everyone else's caret and edits live
- Native agent integration — bring your own agent (Claude Code, Codex, etc.)
- Much better chat and comments: comments visible in both the PDF and the LaTeX code
- Designed to run on lab servers
