GitHub Universe 2026: from writing code to orchestrating agent fleets — completed work is the output
WirelessLife · x · 2026-10-29
At GitHub Universe 2026, Jay Parikh laid out GitHub's vision of becoming the world's most comprehensive end-to-end software delivery system.
Key points:
- Development has shifted from writing every line, to working with AI assistants, to orchestrating fleets of agents. The output that matters is completed work — features, bug fixes, security fixes — not more code.
- The SDLC is no longer linear: code changes, colleague requests, or production metrics can trigger work anywhere; developers set direction and stay accountable while agents implement and verify.
- The agentic delivery system targets three goals: Velocity (idea to completed software fast and cost-effectively), Intelligence (platform-wide context plus a continuous learning engine), Quality (secure by default, bugs caught before shipping).
- GitHub is being rebuilt for developers and their agents, with infrastructure reworked underneath.
