Building agent infrastructure for specialized domains is the hard part, not the models
Electronic_Sort_6627 · reddit · 2026-10-27
A Reddit user leading AI transformation in an actuarial department argues that LLMs are now smart enough — the bottleneck is safe agent infrastructure. Specialized domains are especially hard: engineers must deeply understand the work to gauge agent performance, grant the right permissions and configs, build advanced RAG, and wire up backend agent communication. As companies push firm-wide AI ecosystems, niche domain infrastructure, not model capability, will set the pace of adoption.
