India's IT Sector Grows Without Jobs as AI Reshapes Hiring
nordicinst · x · 2026-10-27
India's IT sector rallied 13% in October after September-quarter earnings from TCS, Infosys, HCLTech and Wipro showed strong deal wins and AI monetisation progress. But Forrester's Biswajeet Mahapatra noted a persistent disconnect between deal activity, tech demand and revenue growth: the industry is shifting from job-linked growth toward productivity, automation and AI-enabled delivery. Jefferies said the rally was driven by valuation rerating rather than upgraded forecasts, with hiring trends pointing to fewer jobs despite growth.
