Indie dev postmortem: 2K visitors from ChatGPT, zero sales — info-site form killed conversion

An indie developer shares a fresh failure postmortem: a new product launched a week ago got 2K unique visitors — 700 from chatgpt.com, second only to direct traffic — but zero sales.
Why it failed
- The product was built as a content/info site with an attached generator instead of a pure generator. It attracted traffic looking for information, not users with a generation need — the wrong intent for monetization.
- Echoes the advice "don't build agents, build forms": forms are instantly understandable, so visitors know exactly what they want.
Takeaway: for monetization, target traffic with explicit generation intent; other traffic only matters at ad-scale. Analytics show engagement was fine (13% bounce rate, 1m51s visit duration) — the mismatch was intent vs. product form, not traffic quality.
