Don't paste old chats when switching AI assistants — hand off decisions instead
Ok_Negotiation_2587 · reddit · 2026-10-25
Pasting a full old chat into a new AI assistant makes it treat rejected approaches as still live. Better: have the old assistant write a <250-word handoff covering the goal in one line, decisions made with reasons, what was tried and dropped and why (the key line), open questions, and the exact next step. The author explains the free prompt template and his Carry Forward feature in the AI Toolbox extension that automates this across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Grok.
