popquiz: a free CLI that quizzes you on whether you understand the code AI wrote for you
Honest_Traffic_8613 · reddit · 2026-10-25
A developer released popquiz, a free open-source (MIT) CLI that checks whether you actually understand your AI-written code. Run it in any git repo: it picks random functions — prioritizing commits with Claude/Copilot/Cursor "Co-Authored-By" lines — and has Claude write one multiple-choice question per function about edge cases, error paths and side effects. You answer without seeing the code and get a comprehension score plus a README badge. The whole tool was built with Claude Code: researching prior art, writing the Node.js CLI, tests, README, even the launch video in HyperFrames. Best detail: running popquiz on its own code immediately caught two real bugs in a JSON parser Claude had written ten minutes earlier. It runs via claude -p so it works with an existing Claude Code plan, no API key needed.
