Dev builds Chrome extension to fully export Claude chats after official export drops reasoning blocks
Additional-Ladder-24 · reddit · 2026-10-24
A Reddit developer who runs agent-based tests and keeps a personal RAG found Claude's official conversation export loses thinking blocks, tool calls, files and structure — so they built a Chrome extension for complete capture.
Key capabilities:
- Full conversation capture: text, thinking/reasoning blocks, tool calls + results, files, images, artifacts
- Export as structured JSON, organized ZIP, clean PDF or plain TXT, with bulk download and an index
- Self-tests for the capture pipeline, plus a live feed of real-time events (response start, thinking, tool calls, response end)
- Optional pipeline to push structured data to external endpoints/webhooks, designed to work with MCP so other agents can observe or act on the data
- Extras: a local-analysis Copilot mode (sandbox + terminal + local LLM) and debugger-based traffic analysis (HAR, traces)
