terrio v0.5.0 ships pure Rust geospatial engine with no GDAL, adds SQL and GRIB support
giswqs · x · 2026-10-24
terrio v0.5.0 reads, writes, converts and reprojects geospatial rasters, vectors and point clouds in pure Rust with no GDAL or C dependencies, usable from CLI, Python, JavaScript (WebAssembly) or Rust — or driven by an AI agent.
New in v0.5.0:
- Vector processing: buffer, overlay (intersection/union/difference), dissolve, make-valid, centroid, vertices and footprint
- Raster analysis: contour lines, zonal statistics across bands and rasters, multi-raster point sampling
- Standalone terrio sql command for querying vector layers, plus a terrio-rio CLI compatible with rasterio commands (info, clip, merge, warp, calc)
- GRIB1/GRIB2 weather data support, lazily read locally or remotely from NOAA and ECMWF
- More PDAL point-cloud filters including dbscan
