Japanese NLP researcher ryoNLP recommends the most current AI learning path: build foundations with the illustrated NLP textbook Irulgaku NLP, then catch up on frontier tech with Reinforcement Learning for Foundation Models (Ryo Yoshida) and Introduction to Multimodal Models (Yuto Suda et al.), all published by Kodansha.
The multimodal book covers CLIP, LLaVA, speech/music/video generation, 3D data and NEXT-GPT, with an endorsement from Preferred Networks CEO Daisuke Okanohara.
