Tiptree Systems shared new results for its AI research system Alien:
- The team paid 50 judges with graduate degrees in CS/AI to rank research reports from competing systems. Alien's reports earned the best average quality rank and produced 3 of the top 5 reports.
- They then scaled the system massively, indexing millions of papers and tens of millions of concept elements, and generated 25,000 new research proposals.
- The proposals are searchable on the Lacuna platform (in collaboration with MIT), across directions, papers, authors, venues, and institutions. Example research directions include synthetic-to-real generalization (6,159 papers), shifting from static benchmarks to dynamic evaluation (4,912 papers), and bypassing the computational bottleneck of adversarial training.
