MCP Tasks runs jobs for hours or days; Events adds server push
bibryam · x · 2026-10-23
The MCP Tasks extension lets work run for seconds, minutes, hours or even days: the client starts a task, disconnects while the agent does other work, then checks back on status. Tasks is polling-based today; the in-development MCP Events work adds a path for servers to push updates. Together they enable a start-work-disconnect-get-notified orchestration pattern.
