Personal AI agents become a capital-intensive race as cloud execution environments reshape cost structures

With Grok Bot, Meta Muse, OpenAI Dots, and Claude Duet launching in quick succession, personal AI agents are shifting from lightweight API-wrapper startups to infrastructure-heavy businesses: each provides cloud execution environments (VMs, browsers), adding compute, storage, scheduling, and ops costs on top of inference. One observer notes the most painful cost is idle polling — agents checking for nothing still burns money — and predicts vendors will quietly cut check frequency, making agents feel sluggish. As vendors battle with free tiers (one offering 100M tokens for enterprise verification), the question is whether this becomes a capital and infrastructure-efficiency race where scaled delivery cost is the new moat.
