1Password launches agent sign-in with human approval, hits $500M ARR
shashib · x · 2026-10-23
1Password announced two things on October 22: 1Password for Agents, which lets personal AI agents sign in with a person's approval, and that the company has surpassed $500M in ARR.
- How it works: the agent identifies itself with a unique digital key; the user sees which credential it needs and why, then approves or declines on their own device. 1Password fills the credential in — the agent continues the task without ever receiving the password.
- The open question: an agent an employee approves can sign into work accounts. How employers audit and revoke agent access — whether an employee's approval becomes an enterprise record — is the identity-security question the author highlights.
- Numbers: 60% net-new ARR growth in the first three quarters of FY2026; 40%+ YoY growth in $100K+ customers; 16% of business accounts already use developer and AI security tools.
- Availability: free for Individual/Family accounts on 1Password.com; not yet on .eu/.ca domains. Business customers drive 75%+ of ARR, with larger organizations pointed to Unified Access.
