One hacker's AI agents hit 1,200+ websites, breaching about 100 firms

Experts warn that powerful new AI models are fueling a wave of large-scale, sophisticated cyberattacks:
- Starting Sept 25, a hacker unleashed an army of AI agents that autonomously attempted to break into over 1,200 websites over several weeks, with no further human involvement
- About 100 companies were successfully breached, including Deere, SharkNinja and Cummins
- Researchers say such tools dramatically lower the barrier to complex attacks, enabling mass penetration without expert skills
AI-driven autonomous attacks have moved from hypothetical to an ongoing security reality.
