AI uncovers long-hidden PHP vulnerability, lowering the bar for exploit discovery
FuSheng_0306 · x · 2026-10-22
Researchers used AI to turn a long-hidden flaw deep in PHP's codebase into a practically verifiable attack, likely forcing backend developers worldwide into emergency patching.
Fu Sheng, a veteran cybersecurity practitioner, argues AI has dramatically lowered the barrier for vulnerability discovery—legacy code nobody wanted to touch can now be thoroughly audited by AI. His flip side: the same capability can be used to re-examine, fix, and even refactor aging systems to pay down technical debt.
He uses this to push enterprises toward AI transformation, with the latter part of the post promoting his paid AI training course in Shanghai (note the promotional intent).
