Germany, France and Italy agree on EU AI regulation binding all providers

Germany, France and Italy have reached a joint position on EU AI regulation, calling for binding voluntary commitments from AI providers of all sizes. The European Parliament had proposed binding only major providers, but the three governments warned this would give smaller European providers a competitive edge. Germany's Economy Ministry argued laws should regulate AI applications rather than the technology itself. The deal is expected to accelerate negotiations among the Commission, Parliament and Council.
