Dev ships aitop, a C++ 'top for AI' built with Claude Code in 2 hours

A Linux developer released aitop, a native C++20 ncurses CLI tool that acts as "top for AI workloads" on Linux and macOS.
Features
- Filters AI processes from the rest, showing CPU, memory, and disk I/O, sortable and filterable
- Tracks which network connections AI processes own, plus interface rates
- GPU usage when drivers are present
- Live agent sessions, --once JSON snapshots, or one JSON line per sample for scripts
- Read-only: never kills processes or prints raw command lines/prompts
How it was built: the author wrote the brief and steered; Claude Code wrote the /proc collector, ncurses UI, macOS collector (libproc/Mach/sysctl), tests, and CMake builds. First working version took 2 hours; v0.2–0.5 followed the next day, with mid-turn steering used instead of restarts when it went wrong.
Gaps: no Apple GPU stats, CPU is per-core (can exceed 100%), token counts still zero. Free to try at greatvibe.ai (the author discloses he builds that tool too).
