DeepSeek has raised about 100 billion yuan ($15B) in its latest round — the largest AI funding round in China — with CATL and Tencent among the biggest investors, Bloomberg reports. The target was reportedly raised at least twice from an initial 50 billion yuan.
Proceeds will fund AI data center construction, open-source model development for domestic and overseas markets, and IPO preparation: DeepSeek has hired CITIC Securities for a STAR Market listing. It recently open-sourced DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash-1017 and the DeepInfer inference framework. Moonshot AI is separately reported to be targeting a Hong Kong IPO in Q1 2027.
