Palantir showcased its "sovereign AI" push with customer case studies fine-tuning NVIDIA Nemotron on proprietary, locally controlled data:
- McCarthy Building fine-tuned Nemotron 3 Nano 4B in Foundry on labeled RFI data for risk classification — per the charts, it hits 73% balanced accuracy at $0.1 per 1M tokens, beating Claude Sonnet 5.5 (66%) and GPT-6 Astra (63%) which cost 10-200x more.
- Tampa General Hospital keeps patient data and model processing local, fine-tuning Nemotron to classify LLM traffic; fine-tuned Nemotron 3.5 Lightning 30B reaches 95.7% accuracy at 58ms vs Claude Opus 5.5's 88.6% at 1,627ms.
- NVIDIA itself uses Palantir AIP to accelerate its supply chain; L3Harris builds in-house models for defense use cases.
The pitch: keep data in-house and let small fine-tuned models beat frontier models at a fraction of the cost.
