Flappy raises $1B Series A, unveils KVM megakernel framework for SoTA training speeds
spectorb · x · 2026-10-22
GPU startup Flappy announced a $1 billion Series A co-led by Index and Lux, alongside its "Kittens Virtual Machine" (KVM) framework.
KVM launches a megakernel acting as a persistent runtime with its own instruction-based programming model. Claims: (a) unprecedented hardware control and visibility opening a new systems–training co-design space, already used to accelerate internal research; (b) vastly SoTA training speeds without hand-tuned kernels; (c) much higher GPU utilization by co-packing multiple independent workloads into one kernel. The team believes these new GPU primitives will enable new learning algorithms and reshape AI's cost structure.
