From the OPAL thread: beyond handling loss spikes (detecting, zeroing, and monitoring them), Opal automatically designs highly sophisticated learning-rate schedules — the kind usually only affordable for super-late, highest-impact runs like DeepSeek. Now anyone can get the same or more sophistication. The chart compares DeepSeek-V3's hand-designed LR curve with OPAL's per-module schedules across multiple runs.
