Mach9 has closed a $34M Series A co-led by First Round and Bessemer, with participation from Prudence VC and Quiet Capital.
Founder Alex Baikovitz traces the origin story: in his first week at Carnegie Mellon, he walked into roboticist Red Whittaker's office and was handed blueprints of a nuclear waste storage tunnel — told to turn them into a CAD model, simulate it, and build a robot to inspect it. That work showed how infrastructure owners and engineers need to understand what exists on site and plan what comes next, which is the problem Mach9 now tackles with robots and software for geospatial data capture and understanding.
