Where AI compute burns next: ads, marketing analytics, not cybersecurity
QuintinPope5 · x · 2026-10-21
In a thread with @teortaxesTex and @bookwormengr, QuintinPope5 argues that cybersecurity is unlikely to be a main compute sink — even the idea of fuzzing every enterprise codebase with massive tokens to fully block script kiddies doesn't fit how spending scales.
The real sinks, he says, will be areas already consuming big budgets with scalable demand: ad optimization, marketing data analytics, and product-market fit research. Firms co-develop market research, positioning, productization, R&D, supply chains, production and advertising, and since performance is relative, there is no finite amount of AI capability that 'solves' competition — so compute spending on these can grow without bound.
