Laude Institute backs WaggleHaus, an open-source query engine for agentic queries over data lakes

Laude Institute is funding WaggleHaus, an open-source query engine by an MIT/UW-Madison team (Mike Cafarella, Tim Kraska, et al.) for semantic and agentic queries over petabyte-scale enterprise data lakes.
The thesis: supporting agentic queries over massive data lakes requires rebuilding the data system from scratch—making the data layer more agent-friendly, specializing the inference engine for the query workload, and running agents inside the system that continuously update views and indices for faster access. The team is seeking industry design partners and demos.
