Stanford team launches ScholarCatalyst, a benchmark for literature retrieval that inspires research
lateinteraction · x · 2026-10-21
Laude Institute unveiled ScholarCatalyst (Yoonho Lee, Kangwook Kim, Chelsea Finn at Stanford) as part of Slingshots Four — a benchmark testing whether AI can find prior work that could inspire scientific research. The team notes that deeply "reading" literature takes humans years to master, and even the best current systems perform poorly. With Laude's support, they will train a retrieval system directly for this task.
