Dr. Singularity on post-scarcity: work won't disappear, UHI just becomes the baseline
Dr_Singularity · x · 2026-10-20
Responding to the claim that "the concept of work will change," Dr. Singularity lays out his view of the UBI/UHI era.
He disagrees that people will simply stop working and live off UHI once abundance arrives — he certainly won't. But he also doesn't find the idea of people living comfortably on UHI without working dystopian; quite the opposite.
His take: UBI or even UHI will simply become the new baseline, much like how even today's homeless get help from others or institutions — only the baseline gets raised dramatically.
