Week 2: migrating a 2D Python game to Unreal 3D with Claude and Tripo, 680 tests included
Dead_Fox_7 · reddit · 2026-10-20
Week 2 of an indie dev's migration from 2D Python to Unreal 3D using Claude Opus 5.5 and Tripo. Highlights: image-gen→Tripo→Blender→Grok animation pipeline with a new trick of coloring each leg differently before video generation; modular barn assembly from separately generated parts. Claude engineering practices worth stealing: project constitution/code map/decision log docs per session, milestone-based delivery (20 so far), engine-independent C++ with 680 headless automation tests, off-screen game launches via CLI flags for visual self-checking (Unreal MCP when the editor is open), and self-written commandlets/.bat scripts for map generation and grid baking. Music by Suno.
