AI Fake Docs Up 500%: Extend Launches Verify, an Agent-Built Fraud Detection API
baseten · x · 2026-10-20
Extend has launched Verify, billed as the first document fraud detection API built for AI agents, responding to a 500% surge in AI-generated fake documents that humans can no longer reliably spot.
- Detects fully AI-fabricated documents, localized AI edits (down to a single modified character), patched text/overlays/in-painting from Photoshop, PDF editors and coding agents, and digital tampering after signing
- Uses forensic checks across visual content, file structure, and revision history
- Detected over 96% of AI-generated and tampered documents in internal evals
- Each flag comes with evidence and a low/medium/high risk rating
The API is available today via an application process, with Baseten supporting training and serving infrastructure.
