Orchard: open-source, fully local semantic photo search for your laptop
chaseleantj · x · 2026-10-19
Developer chaseleantj released Orchard, an open-source (MIT) app for browsing and searching every photo on your laptop:
- Runs 100% locally, no uploads
- Semantic, multilingual search — find any photo by describing it
- Drag & drop a photo to find similar ones
- Index any or all folders you choose
- Map view to visualize all photos geographically
It positions itself as a privacy-friendly, self-hosted alternative to Google Photos with semantic search built in.
