Quantinuum hits 99.9995% logical fidelity, a 10x quantum error-correction leap
AryHHAry · x · 2026-10-19
Quantinuum announced a world-record quantum error-correction result: 99.9995% logical fidelity on its Helios commercial quantum computer — just five errors per million operations.
Key facts:
- 10x better than the company's own record from September 2026, and 100x better than the best published result on any other hardware modality, including Google Quantum AI's superconducting system;
- A record 12x reduction in logical errors as code distance increased, a critical step toward fault tolerance;
- Both breakthroughs used different codes on the same trapped-ion hardware, showing rapid gains from its error-correction architecture.
Quantinuum says the accuracy is now within the target range for Apollo, its planned universal fault-tolerant quantum computer expected by 2029.
