AI Doesn't Need Elegant Math: It Just Brute-Forces the Expansion
akarp · x · 2026-10-19
A viral long post argues that "elegant mathematical structure" is essentially a crutch humans invented to fit their tiny working memory—even top mathematicians can only track five or six variables at once, so they instinctively retreat to symmetries and invariants when high-order terms pile up.
AI has no such biological limit: for tens of thousands of concurrent agents, tracking ten thousand fifth-order cross terms is as easy as 1+1. It can stand inside the high-dimensional expansion, push it to seventh order, and pin down undetermined coefficients to zero out divergent terms—no human-comprehensible new concepts required. The darkly funny conclusion: we finally got the answers from God's ledger, only to find God doesn't use calculus—he just hammers it out on a calculator. The quoting poster quips in Russian that this view is "quite barbaric."
