Anthropic commits ~20% of shares to public good via new Public Benefit Fund

Anthropic announced the Anthropic Public Benefit Fund, a wholly owned entity starting with 5% of the company's shares, with up to an extra 2% contributed for every 50% increase in value over a baseline — roughly 20% of shares committed to public good in total. Its co-founders have pledged to donate 80% of their equity, and about half of employees donate equity via a matching program.
The sharer frames it sarcastically, arguing Anthropic is 'ahead of the curve' in technological self-destruction — possibly because it believes its product might end the world first.
