SciΠvot benchmark: frontier models prefer flawed research plans and lag human scientific judgment
Youran Sun · hf · 2026-10-19
A team from University of Maryland, CUHK, Stanford, and others releases SciΠvot, a benchmark testing LLM auto-research agents' principal-investigator judgment at pivotal decision moments. It comprises 248 human-corrected cases spanning critical choices in automated research pipelines.
Key finding: frontier models often prefer flawed research plans over expert corrections and perform below human levels. Code and data are open-sourced at AutoResearch-Factory/SciPIvot on GitHub.
