After the Tokyo event with Prof. Jürgen Schmidhuber sold out, Kyoto University's CIAIER announced an additional public lecture on Nov 5, 2026, 13:30–15:00 JST at the HORIBA Symposium Hall, free with no registration, co-organized with Sakana AI.
Titled "Past, Present, Future, and Far Future of Artificial Intelligence," the talk will trace modern AI from its 1990 origins (LSTM, CTC, foundations of generative AI), discuss AI's impact on billions of lives, and argue AI will spread from screens into the physical world of robots and factories — including his view that physical-world blue-collar workers will temporarily gain an edge over screen-bound white-collar workers.
