AI solves the n=1 software problem: tailored apps will replace configurable ones
sloppenheimer · x · 2026-10-19
Quoting @shellac's take that tailored software beats configurable software, sloppenheimer argues AI has been solving the "infinite niches" problem for years: software for n=1 — tailored to the person, the question, the desired answer, the problem, and their temporal nature.
Tailored software does only what you want, exactly how you want it, without the complexity of supporting a million configurations. Once everyone can get software tailored to them, a huge amount of invisible friction and frustration will disappear.
