Can Neural Nets Produce Qualia? A Philosophical Exchange on AI Consciousness
brandon_xyzw · x · 2026-10-19
Responding to a "why" about artificial neural networks being unable to produce qualia, the author argues by analogy: simulating high-energy particle vibrations in floating-point numbers does not produce heat, and even if something analogous emerged at the simulation level, it would merely be an abstraction of our mind rather than genuine subjective experience. A brief philosophical exchange on AI consciousness and qualia.
