One design doc + Claude Code rebuilt an open-source Godot FFT ocean renderer at 1000+ fps

A developer used Claude Code (Opus, $20 Pro plan) to build an MIT-licensed FFT ocean renderer for Godot 4.7 C#, running at 1000+ fps at 1080p.
Tech: three GPU FFT cascades simulate waves; foam forms on crests and dissolves into trails; sky-driven painterly shading. Techniques from Tessendorf, Sea of Thieves, Acerola, Crest.
Workflow: the real artifact is OCEANGUIDE.md — a single doc covering every technical choice, engine gotcha, verification step and dead end. Claude Code built the renderer, tests, demo scene and tooling from it in an empty project, self-checking with in-engine screenshots and benchmarks; the author only pointed at visual issues and Claude wrote findings back into the guide.
Cost: initial build 1 hour (40% of a 5-hour session, 5% of weekly limit); API-equivalent cost of the whole project $58.70 ($18 initial).
