Haight Street Compute Market: a one-day trading floor for GPU deals in SF
ctjlewis · x · 2026-10-16
On Nov 17, the Haight Street Compute Market will turn the old Federal Reserve building in San Francisco into a one-day trading floor where vetted compute buyers and sellers meet in person and sign deals.
The sharer frames it as a glimpse of the future: AI compute markets borrow analogies from finance and cloud marketplaces, but the dynamics differ — the technology is new (form factors unknown), scarce, and opaque. Despite how crazy the AI buildout looks, demand is nearly insatiable since most consumers and enterprises are only starting to adopt AI. Tokens will stay scarce for a while, prices vary wildly, and much of the digital economy will rest on how compute deals are brokered.
