Experienced Engineers Agree: AI Coding Raises Demand for Engineers, Not Lowers It
bendee983 · x · 2026-10-15
- bendee983: everyone with enough engineering experience to review AI agents' work confirms AI coding advances will increase demand for engineers.
- Coding agents are great but don't replace engineers in serious projects serving large user bases or sensitive operations; companies report being stuck because they can't hire enough people to operate the latest AI tools.
- Agents aren't magic and mostly aren't autonomous — vibe-coding simple apps is easy, but shipping working software for thousands of users remains demanding.
- Logic: AI drops software costs → software demand rises → engineer demand rises with it.
