Dwarkesh: Anthropic insider expects AI to match humans at AI research within 9 months
ZeroStateReflex · x · 2026-10-16
Dwarkesh Patel reveals that two days ago, an Anthropic employee told him — based on inside information they can't share — that they expect AI to match humans at AI research within nine months.
His core criticism: lab insiders claim to hold evidence that makes them more worried but aren't allowed to discuss it publicly, making it very hard for outsiders to calibrate how worried to be. He argues labs should make that evidence public.
The booster frames this as months away from RSI. Note: this is a secondhand account of an internal expectation, not an official statement.
