AI-assisted preprint improves kissing number bounds in 19 and 21 dimensions
felpix_ · x · 2026-10-15
A hobbyist mathematician posted a preprint proving kissing numbers in 19 and 21 dimensions are at least 12460 and 31560, beating prior published bounds of 11948 and 29768. The paper is marked "Primarily AI-generated": GPT-6 Astra Pro, Claude Opus 5.5 and Claude Fable 5.1 found the constructions and drafted it; the author proofread and welcomes scrutiny of the AI usage.
